How To Blanch Asparagus?

Wash the asparagus under cold running water

Trim off the tough woody ends

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil

Prepare a bowl of ice water

Add the asparagus to the boiling water

Blanch for 1 to 3 minutes, depending on thickness

Remove the asparagus with tongs or a slotted spoon

Immediately transfer it to the ice water

Leave it in the ice water for 1 to 2 minutes

Drain well and pat dry before using or storing
