Wash and dry the toes
Cut a strip of medical tape
Place a small piece of gauze or cotton between the toes if needed
Align the injured toe with the adjacent toe
Wrap the tape around both toes snugly, not tightly
Leave the toe joints free if possible
Check that circulation is not restricted
Re-tape if the toes feel numb, cold, or discolored
Replace the tape if it becomes wet or loose
Remove the tape if pain worsens or skin irritation develops
