How to Remove a Splinter from Your Finger?

Wash your hands and the affected finger with soap and water

Sterilize a pair of tweezers and a needle with rubbing alcohol

Use a magnifying glass and good lighting if needed

If the splinter tip is visible, grasp it with the tweezers and pull it out in the same direction it entered

If the splinter is under the skin, gently lift the skin surface with the sterilized needle until the tip is exposed

Remove the splinter with the tweezers once the tip is accessible

Wash the area again with soap and water

Apply an antiseptic or antibiotic ointment

Cover the area with a clean bandage

Change the bandage daily and keep the area clean

Seek medical help if the splinter is deeply embedded, near the nail, very painful, or cannot be removed

Seek medical help if there is redness, swelling, pus, or fever
