Place succulents in bright light (at least several hours of sun daily)
Use a well-draining cactus/succulent potting mix
Choose a pot with drainage holes
Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry
Water at the soil level; avoid wetting leaves
Use the “soak and drain” method; empty the saucer after watering
Reduce watering in winter or during low-light periods
Avoid high humidity; provide good airflow
Keep temperatures moderate and avoid frost and prolonged extreme heat
Rotate pots occasionally for even growth
Fertilize lightly during active growth (spring/summer) using diluted cactus fertilizer
Repot every 1–2 years or when roots outgrow the pot
Handle gently to avoid leaf or stem damage
Remove dead or rotting leaves promptly
Watch for overwatering signs (soft, translucent, mushy leaves; yellowing)
Watch for underwatering signs (wrinkled, shriveled leaves)
Check regularly for pests (mealybugs, scale, spider mites) and treat early
Quarantine new plants for a couple of weeks before placing with others
Propagate by leaf or stem cuttings only from healthy plants in dry conditions
Allow cut ends to callus before planting
Keep succulents out of standing water and never let them sit in wet soil
