Choose a healthy, disease-free rose stem
Cut a 6- to 8-inch section from a stem that has finished blooming
Make the cut just below a leaf node
Remove the flower, buds, and most leaves
Keep only the top one or two leaves
Dip the cut end in rooting hormone
Fill a pot with moist, well-draining potting mix
Make a hole in the soil with a pencil or stick
Insert the cutting into the hole
Firm the soil around the cutting
Water lightly
Cover the cutting with a clear plastic bag or humidity dome
Place it in bright, indirect light
Keep the soil moist but not soggy
Check for root growth after several weeks
Transplant once the cutting has rooted well
