Turn off the water supply to the tub
Open the faucet to release any remaining water
Remove the old faucet handle if needed
Remove the set screw or retaining clip
Pull off the old tub faucet spout or trim
Clean the pipe or mounting area
Measure the existing faucet connection size
Apply plumber’s tape to threaded connections if required
Install the new faucet or spout
Tighten the set screw, nut, or retaining clip
Reinstall the handle and trim
Turn the water supply back on
Test the faucet for leaks
Tighten connections if needed
Replace any damaged washers or cartridges if necessary
