Turn off the grill and let it cool slightly (grill should be warm, not hot)
Remove any large food debris with a grill scraper
Wipe the surface with a dry paper towel to remove loosened particles
If grease is heavy: scrape again, then wipe with a paper towel
For stuck-on residue: apply water sparingly to the hot surface, then scrape while it loosens
Wipe clean with a damp cloth or paper towels
Use a mild grill-safe cleaner if needed; follow the cleaner directions
Rinse by wiping with a clean damp cloth (avoid soaking if the manual advises against it)
Dry completely with paper towels or a clean cloth
While still warm, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the griddle surface
Spread oil evenly with a paper towel
Wipe off excess oil until the surface looks lightly coated
Clean the grease tray and any catch components; empty and wipe clean
Let the grill cool fully
Cover the grill when fully cool and dry
