How to Clean a Paint Sprayer?

Turn off the sprayer and unplug it or disconnect the air/compressor source

Release pressure from the system

Empty any remaining paint from the cup, hopper, or container

Wipe out excess paint from the container and lid

Pour the correct cleaning solvent into the sprayer

Spray the solvent through the system until it runs clear

Remove the spray tip, nozzle, guard, and filter

Soak removable parts in the appropriate cleaning solution

Scrub parts with a brush to remove paint buildup

Clean the paint cup, pickup tube, and fluid passages

Flush the hose and gun body with clean solvent

Wipe down the exterior of the sprayer

Dry all parts completely

Reassemble the sprayer

Lubricate parts if recommended by the manufacturer

Store the sprayer clean and dry
