Start with white paint as the base
Add a small amount of black paint
Mix thoroughly
Add more black for a darker gray
Add more white for a lighter gray
Use tiny amounts of black at a time
Stir until the color is even
Test the color on a scrap surface
Adjust with white or black as needed
