Skim leaves and debris from the pool surface
Brush the pool walls, steps, and floor
Check that the vacuum head, hose, and pole are connected
Fill the vacuum hose with water to remove air
Attach the hose to the skimmer or vacuum port
Set the filter valve to the correct vacuum setting
Lower the vacuum head into the pool slowly
Move the vacuum head along the pool floor in slow, overlapping strokes
Keep the vacuum head in contact with the surface
Clean corners, steps, and shallow areas carefully
Watch the pressure gauge and suction strength
Backwash or clean the filter if suction drops
Remove the vacuum and disconnect the hose when finished
Rinse the vacuum equipment and store it properly
