Turn off the power to the garburator
Remove any visible debris with tongs or pliers
Run cold water into the sink
Pour baking soda into the drain
Add white vinegar and let it fizz
Flush with hot water after a few minutes
Grind ice cubes to help clean the blades
Add coarse salt while running cold water
Use citrus peels to freshen the unit
Clean the splash guard with soap and a brush
Wipe the sink flange and drain opening
Restore power and test the garburator with water
