Turn off the heat and let the griddle cool slightly
Scrape off food residue with a metal spatula or griddle scraper
Wipe away loose debris with paper towels or a clean cloth
Pour a small amount of warm water onto the surface if needed
Scrub stubborn spots with a non-abrasive pad or griddle brush
Use mild dish soap only if the griddle manufacturer allows it
Wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth
Dry the griddle completely with a clean towel
Apply a thin layer of cooking oil to protect the surface
Remove and clean any grease tray or drip pan
Empty and wash the grease tray or drip pan
Store the griddle with the surface dry and lightly oiled
