Wash the area gently with warm water and mild soap during your shower
Use a clean fingertip or soft washcloth to clean inside the belly button
Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap
Dry the area completely with a clean towel or cotton swab

Clean it more often if you sweat a lot or have a deep belly button
