Empty the washer
Remove any laundry and check the drum, gasket, and detergent drawer for items
Set the washer to the hottest and longest cycle
Add 2 cups of white vinegar directly into the drum for a top-load washer
Add 1 cup of white vinegar into the detergent dispenser for a front-load washer
Start the cycle and let it run fully
Sprinkle 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drum
Run a second hot cycle
Wipe the drum, door, gasket, and detergent drawer with a clean cloth
Clean the detergent drawer and any removable parts separately
Leave the washer door or lid open to air dry
Repeat monthly if needed
