Unplug the washing machine
Remove any clothes, lint, or debris from the drum
Fill the tub with hot water
Add washing machine cleaner or 2 cups of white vinegar
Let the cycle run for a few minutes
Pause the cycle and let the solution soak for 30 to 60 minutes
Resume and complete the cycle
Scrub the inside of the lid, tub, and agitator with a sponge or cloth
Clean the detergent dispenser and fabric softener compartment
Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth
Run an extra rinse cycle with plain water
Clean the lint filter if your machine has one
Leave the lid open to air dry
Repeat monthly or as needed
