How to Sanitize Ice Maker?

Turn off the ice maker and unplug the appliance or switch off power at the breaker

Remove all ice from the bin and discard it

Take out any removable parts such as the ice bin, scoop, and water filter if applicable

Wash removable parts with warm water and mild dish soap

Rinse all parts thoroughly and let them air dry

Prepare a sanitizer approved for food-contact surfaces or use a manufacturer-recommended cleaning solution

Wipe or soak removable parts with the sanitizer according to the product instructions

Clean the interior surfaces of the ice maker with a soft cloth or sponge and the sanitizer

Pay attention to the ice bin, water reservoir, chute, and dispenser areas

Avoid using abrasive pads or harsh chemicals

Run a cleaning cycle if your ice maker has one, following the manufacturer’s directions

Flush the system with clean water after sanitizing if required by the cleaner instructions

Reinstall all dry parts

Turn the ice maker back on

Discard the first batch of ice after cleaning
