Turn off the ignition and remove the key
Put on safety gloves and eye protection
Identify the positive terminal marked with a plus sign
Identify the negative terminal marked with a minus sign
Connect the positive cable to the positive battery terminal first
Tighten the positive terminal clamp securely
Connect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal second
Tighten the negative terminal clamp securely
Check that both connections are firm and clean
Close the hood after confirming the battery is secure
