Turn on the Xbox One console
Turn on the controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button
Insert fresh batteries or charge the controller if needed
Press the Pair button on the Xbox One console
Press and hold the Pair button on the controller until the Xbox button flashes
Wait for the Xbox button on the controller to stay lit
If needed, connect the controller with a USB cable to sync it
Disconnect the cable after pairing if you want wireless use
