Measure and cut the PVC pipe squarely
Deburr and smooth the cut edges
Dry-fit the pieces to check alignment
Clean the pipe ends and fittings
Apply PVC primer to the pipe end and fitting socket
Apply PVC cement to both primed surfaces
Push the pipe fully into the fitting with a quarter-turn twist
Hold the joint in place for several seconds
Wipe off excess cement
Let the joint cure before pressurizing or using it
Use a PVC coupling if joining two straight pipe ends
Use threaded adapters if connecting to threaded parts
Use a rubber Fernco coupling for temporary or flexible connections
