Wash and scrub the sweet potato
Pat it dry
Pierce it several times with a fork
Lightly coat with oil if desired
Sprinkle with salt if desired
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F
Place the sweet potato in the air fryer basket
Cook for 35 to 45 minutes
Flip halfway through cooking
Check for tenderness with a fork
Cook a few minutes longer if needed
Remove from the air fryer
Let it cool slightly before serving
