Pat the tuna steak dry
Season both sides with salt and pepper
Heat a skillet or grill over high heat
Add a small amount of oil
Place the tuna steak in the hot pan or on the grill
Sear for 1 to 2 minutes per side for rare
Cook 2 to 3 minutes per side for medium-rare
Avoid overcooking
Remove from heat
Rest for 1 to 2 minutes
Slice against the grain
Serve immediately
