How To Cook Mahi Mahi?

Pat mahi mahi dry with paper towels

Season both sides with salt and black pepper

Add optional seasoning: garlic powder, paprika, cumin, or lemon zest

Choose a cooking method:

Pan-sear

Heat a nonstick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat

Add oil (olive oil or avocado oil)

Place fish in pan and cook 3–4 minutes per side, until it flakes easily

Bake

Heat oven to 425°F (220°C)

Place fish on a lined baking sheet

Drizzle with oil and add seasonings

Bake 10–14 minutes, until it flakes easily

Broil

Heat broiler on high

Place fish on a broiler pan or lined baking sheet

Broil 4–6 minutes per side, until it flakes easily

Grill

Preheat grill to medium-high

Oil grates and lightly oil fish

Grill 3–4 minutes per side, until it flakes easily

Poach (light method)

Simmer gently in seasoned liquid (water, broth, or court bouillon)

Poach 6–10 minutes, until it flakes easily

Add sauce or finish (optional):

Squeeze fresh lemon over the cooked fish

Brush with melted butter and herbs

Top with salsa, mango salsa, or a garlic-lemon butter

Remove from heat when internal temperature reaches 125–130°F (52–54°C) for best texture

Rest 1–2 minutes before serving
