How To Cook Rice Without A Rice Cooker?

Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs mostly clear

Measure rice and water using the correct ratio for your rice type

Add rice and water to a saucepan with a lid

Add a pinch of salt if desired

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat

Reduce heat to low as soon as it boils

Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid

Simmer without lifting the lid until the water is absorbed

Turn off the heat

Let the rice rest covered for 5 to 10 minutes

Fluff the rice with a fork

Serve immediately
