You cannot diagnose COPD at home with certainty
Check whether you have a persistent cough
Check whether you bring up mucus most days
Check whether you get short of breath during normal activities
Check whether you wheeze or have chest tightness
Check whether you have frequent colds or chest infections
Check whether symptoms have lasted for months or years
Check whether you currently smoke or used to smoke
Check whether you have long-term exposure to dust, fumes, or air pollution
Use a peak flow meter if you have one, but do not rely on it to rule out COPD
Compare your breathing symptoms over time and note any worsening
Ask a healthcare professional for spirometry testing
Seek urgent care if you have severe breathing trouble, blue lips, confusion, or chest pain
