Thaw shrimp if frozen
Peel and devein shrimp if needed
Pat shrimp dry
Season shrimp with salt, pepper, and desired spices
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat
Add oil or butter to the skillet
Place shrimp in a single layer
Cook 1 to 2 minutes per side
Flip when shrimp turn pink and opaque on the first side
Remove shrimp when they are pink, opaque, and curled into a loose C shape
Avoid overcooking
Serve immediately
