Wash the watermelon
Cut off both ends
Stand the watermelon upright on one flat end
Slice off the rind in vertical strips
Cut the peeled watermelon into thick slabs
Stack the slabs if needed
Cut the slabs into long sticks
Trim the sticks to the desired size
