Place the steak on a plate or in a shallow dish
Keep the steak in its original packaging if it is sealed and leakproof
Put the steak in the refrigerator
Allow it to thaw slowly until fully defrosted
Use cold water thawing by sealing the steak in a leakproof bag
Submerge the bag in cold water
Change the water every 30 minutes
Cook the steak immediately after cold water thawing
Use the microwave only if you plan to cook the steak right away
Follow the microwave defrost setting in short intervals
Turn or flip the steak during microwave thawing
Check that the steak is fully thawed before cooking
Never thaw steak on the counter at room temperature
