Select the item
Press Command + Delete
Move files to the Trash
Empty the Trash to permanently delete
In Finder, right-click the item and choose Move to Trash
In apps, use Edit > Delete if available
To delete a character, press Delete or Fn + Delete
To delete a word, press Option + Delete
To delete a line, press Command + Delete in supported text fields
