Tilt your head so the affected ear faces downward
Gently tug on your earlobe while keeping the head tilted
Lie on your side with the affected ear facing down
Open and close your jaw or yawn
Chew gum
Create a gentle vacuum by cupping your hand over the ear and pressing lightly
Use gravity by hopping on one foot with the affected ear tilted downward
Apply a warm compress to the outside of the ear
Dry the outer ear with a towel
Use a hair dryer on the lowest, coolest setting, held at a safe distance
Avoid inserting cotton swabs, fingers, or other objects into the ear
Seek medical care if pain, discharge, hearing loss, dizziness, or persistent water remains
