Brush or finger-comb your hair to remove major tangles
Gather your hair into a high, mid, or low ponytail
Twist the ponytail loosely
Wrap the twisted hair around the base to form a bun
Leave a few ends out for a scruffy look
Secure the bun with a hair tie, bobby pins, or both
Gently pull at the bun to loosen and add volume
Tug out a few face-framing pieces if desired
Adjust the shape until it looks messy but secure
Finish with hairspray if you want extra hold
