Wash your hands
Use a clean nasal irrigation device
Prepare sterile, distilled, or previously boiled and cooled water
Mix the water with the recommended saline packet or saline solution
Lean over a sink and tilt your head forward
Keep your mouth open and breathe through your mouth
Place the spout in one nostril
Gently pour or squeeze the solution into the nostril
Let the liquid drain out of the other nostril or your mouth
Repeat on the other nostril
Blow your nose gently after irrigation
Clean and dry the device after each use
Use only the solution and water recommended for nasal irrigation
