Open the Word document
Go to the Insert tab
Select Shapes
Choose a line, arrow, rectangle, oval, or freeform shape
Click and drag on the document to draw the shape
Use the Shape Format tab to change the color, outline, and size
Select Draw if your version of Word has a Draw tab
Choose a pen, pencil, or highlighter
Draw directly on the page with a mouse, stylus, or touch screen
Use Ink to Shape if you want Word to convert drawings into clean shapes
Use the Text Box tool if you want to draw inside a movable box
Save the document when finished
