Cut sunflowers when petals are fully open and the back of the head is starting to turn yellow or brown
Remove excess leaves from the stem
Tie stems together in small bunches
Hang the bunches upside down in a dark, dry, well-ventilated area
Keep the flowers away from direct sunlight
Leave them to dry for 2 to 4 weeks
Check that the stems and petals feel dry and crisp
Spray with unscented hairspray or floral sealant if desired
Store dried sunflowers in a cool, dry place
