Find the line labeled “Adjusted Gross Income” or “AGI”
On Form 1040, check Line 11
If you filed jointly, use the AGI from the joint return
If you used tax software, open last year’s return and locate the AGI entry
If you have a paper copy, check the first page of Form 1040
If you need it for e-filing, enter the exact AGI from last year’s filed return
If you cannot find it, request a tax transcript from the IRS
If you amended your return, use the AGI from the original filed return, not the amended return
