Wash your hands and the foot with soap and water
Rinse the area with clean water
If the glass is visible and sticking out, use clean tweezers to grasp it
Pull the glass out in the same direction it entered
If the glass is just under the skin, sterilize a needle with rubbing alcohol
Gently lift the skin over the glass tip with the needle
Use tweezers to remove the glass
Clean the wound again with soap and water
Apply pressure with clean gauze if bleeding
Apply an antibiotic ointment if available
Cover with a clean bandage
Keep weight off the foot if it hurts
Seek medical care if the glass is deep, not visible, or cannot be removed
Seek medical care if bleeding will not stop
Seek medical care if there is numbness, severe pain, swelling, redness, pus, or fever
Seek medical care if your tetanus shot is not up to date
