How To Get Over A Hangover?

Drink water or an oral rehydration solution

Eat something light (toast, bananas, rice, soup)

Avoid alcohol and caffeine

Drink electrolyte-rich fluids (sports drinks, coconut water, broth)

Take a shower or use light stretching to feel better

Get rest and sleep as much as possible

Use ginger tea or peppermint tea if nausea is present

For headache or body aches: take acetaminophen (only if you are not drinking more alcohol and you do not have liver disease)

For headache or body aches: take ibuprofen or naproxen with food (avoid if you have stomach ulcers, kidney disease, or are dehydrated)

Consider an anti-nausea medication if you already have one that’s safe for you

Avoid taking more than the label dose of any pain reliever

Skip greasy or very spicy foods

Check for red-flag symptoms and seek urgent care if needed (vomiting that won’t stop, confusion, trouble breathing, fainting, seizures, severe abdominal pain, blood in vomit or stool, very dark urine, or inability to keep fluids down)
