Put on gloves
Remove any solid material with paper towels or a spoon
Blot up as much liquid as possible with clean paper towels
Sprinkle baking soda, cornstarch, or kitty litter over the area
Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes
Vacuum up the powder
Mix warm water with a small amount of dish soap or white vinegar
Dampen a clean cloth with the solution
Blot the stain from the outside toward the center
Repeat with clean cloths until the stain is gone
Rinse the area by blotting with plain water
Blot dry with towels
Sprinkle baking soda again if odor remains
Vacuum once fully dry
Use a carpet cleaner if needed
