Seal entry points around doors, windows, vents, and gaps in siding with caulk or weatherstripping
Remove outdoor clutter near entrances (leaf litter, mulch piles, stacked wood, cardboard, rocks)
Keep grass trimmed and remove weeds and dense ground cover near the home
Reduce nighttime attraction by turning off outdoor lights near entryways or using yellow “bug” bulbs
Fix moisture problems: repair leaks, improve drainage, and use dehumidifiers in damp areas
Store firewood off the ground and away from the foundation
Use sticky traps or earwig-specific traps along baseboards and near entry points
Apply diatomaceous earth labeled for insects in cracks and around entry points (avoid indoor airflow areas where it can be inhaled)
Use a residual insecticide labeled for earwigs, applied to cracks/crevices, baseboards, and exterior perimeter per label directions
Treat exterior perimeter in a band around the foundation if label permits
Place rolled-up newspaper or cardboard shelters outdoors and remove/empty them regularly
Vacuum earwigs when seen, then dispose of the vacuum contents immediately
Consider professional pest control if infestations persist or are widespread
