Preheat the grill to medium-high heat
Peel back the husks if using husked corn
Remove the silk from the corn
Pull the husks back over the corn if leaving them on
Soak husked corn in water for 15 to 30 minutes
Brush the corn with oil or melted butter
Season with salt and pepper if desired
Place the corn directly on the grill grates or in the husks
Grill, turning every few minutes, until lightly charred and tender
Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes total
Remove from the grill
Let cool slightly before serving
Add more butter, salt, or seasoning if desired
