Collect ripe apricots and remove the pits
Wash off all fruit flesh from the pits
Dry the pits for a few days
Crack the hard shell carefully to remove the seed inside, if desired
Place the seeds in a damp paper towel or moist sand
Seal the seeds in a plastic bag or container
Refrigerate them for 8 to 12 weeks for cold stratification
Check occasionally to keep the medium moist, not wet
Plant sprouted seeds in pots with well-draining soil
Place seeds about 1 to 2 inches deep
Keep the soil evenly moist
Put pots in a warm, sunny location
Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost
Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil
Space trees far enough apart for mature growth
Water young trees regularly
Protect seedlings from pests and frost
Be patient, since seed-grown apricot trees may take several years to fruit
