Keep the area clean and dry
Avoid scratching or picking at the rash
Wear loose, breathable clothing
Use over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream if appropriate
Use calamine lotion for itching
Take an oral antihistamine for itching if needed
Avoid hot showers, harsh soaps, and scented products
Stop using any new skin product that may have caused the rash
Seek medical care if the rash spreads, worsens, or does not improve
Seek urgent care if there is trouble breathing, facial swelling, fever, severe pain, blisters, or signs of infection
