Soak feet in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes
Gently scrub thick skin with a pumice stone or foot file
Pat feet completely dry
Apply a thick moisturizer or petroleum jelly twice daily
Wear cotton socks after moisturizing
Use a heel balm with urea, salicylic acid, or lactic acid
Avoid walking barefoot
Wear closed-back, supportive shoes
Avoid long hot showers
Drink enough water
Exfoliate gently once or twice a week
Treat athlete’s foot or eczema if present
See a doctor if cracks are deep, bleeding, painful, or infected
