Rest the wrist and avoid activities that cause pain
Apply ice for 15–20 minutes every 2–3 hours for the first 48 hours
Wrap the wrist with an elastic bandage for compression
Keep the wrist elevated above heart level when possible
Use a wrist splint or brace to limit movement
Take over-the-counter pain relievers if needed and if safe for you
Start gentle range-of-motion exercises after pain and swelling begin to improve
Gradually return to normal activities as strength and motion return
Seek medical care if pain is severe, swelling is significant, deformity is present, numbness occurs, or symptoms do not improve
