Use saline drops or spray in the nostrils
Use a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator after saline
Run a cool-mist humidifier in the baby’s room
Keep the baby upright for short periods while awake
Offer frequent feeds to help keep baby hydrated
Use a steamy bathroom for a few minutes
Keep the baby away from smoke, dust, and strong odors
Wipe the nose gently with a soft cloth
Elevate the head of the crib slightly only if advised by a pediatrician
Seek medical care if breathing is hard, lips look blue, feeding is poor, or fever is present in a young infant
