Skin feels hot to the touch, especially the chest or back

Warm or red skin without another clear cause
Heat rash or small red bumps
Fever of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher
Fewer wet diapers than usual
Signs of dehydration such as dry mouth or no tears when crying
If the baby feels hot but the hands and feet are not the only warm parts
If the baby is overdressed or wrapped in too many blankets
If the room feels warm and stuffy
If the baby’s temperature remains high after removing extra layers
