Feed smaller amounts more often
Burp the baby frequently during and after feeds
Keep the baby upright for 20 to 30 minutes after feeding
Avoid tight diapers or clothing around the abdomen
Check bottle nipple flow to prevent overfeeding or swallowing air
Try paced bottle feeding
If breastfeeding, review feeding technique and latch
Consider thickened feeds only if advised by a pediatrician
Keep the baby’s sleep surface flat and on the back
Avoid placing the baby in a car seat or swing right after feeding
Track feeding amounts, spit-up, weight gain, and symptoms
Ask a pediatrician about cow’s milk protein intolerance if symptoms persist
Seek medical care if there is poor weight gain, vomiting forcefully, blood in vomit or stool, breathing problems, or signs of dehydration
