Use a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator to gently suction mucus from the nose
Saline drops in each nostril before suctioning
Keep the baby upright for short periods
Offer frequent feeds to help thin mucus
Use a cool-mist humidifier in the room
Run a steamy bathroom briefly and sit with the baby nearby
Gently pat or rub the baby’s back
Turn the baby’s head slightly to the side while resting, if safe and supervised
Keep the baby’s sleeping area clear and follow safe sleep guidelines
Avoid smoke, strong odors, and dust
Seek medical help if breathing is hard, lips look blue, feeding is poor, or the baby is under 3 months with a fever
