Burp the baby during and after feeding
Feed the baby more slowly
Use a smaller bottle nipple flow if bottle-feeding
Pause feeding if the baby starts hiccuping
Keep the baby upright for 20 to 30 minutes after feeding
Check that the baby is not swallowing too much air during feeds
Avoid overfeeding
Offer a pacifier
Gently rub or pat the baby’s back
Wait for the hiccups to stop on their own
Contact a pediatrician if hiccups are frequent, prolonged, or seem to bother the baby
