How to Hook Up a Four Wire Dryer Cord?

Turn off power to the dryer at the breaker

Unplug the dryer from the outlet

Remove the rear access cover on the dryer

Locate the terminal block

Remove the old cord strain relief if present

Loosen the terminal block screws

Disconnect the old cord wires

Install the four-wire cord through the strain relief opening

Connect the two outer hot wires to the outer terminal screws

Connect the white neutral wire to the center terminal screw

Connect the green ground wire to the dryer cabinet ground screw

Remove the factory ground strap from the neutral terminal if required by the dryer model

Tighten all terminal screws securely

Tighten the strain relief clamp on the cord

Reinstall the terminal cover

Restore power at the breaker

Test the dryer for proper operation
