Gather tools and materials: cabinet handles/pulls, mounting screws (or included hardware), tape measure, pencil, drill/driver, drill bits, level (optional), masking tape (optional), screwdriver, ruler/square (optional)
Decide handle placement height and alignment (match existing doors/drawers or use a consistent measurement across all)
Measure and mark the centerline for each handle location on the door/drawer front
Use a tape measure to mark the screw hole positions based on the handle’s template or hole spacing
Apply masking tape over the marked area to reduce slipping and protect the finish
Check measurements twice before drilling
Pre-drill pilot holes using the correct bit size for the screw diameter (use shallow depth to avoid drilling through the front)
Clamp a template (if using) to keep marks aligned, then re-check screw positions
For handles with through-bolts: drill holes through the front panel at the marked locations
Align the handle with the drilled holes
Insert screws (or bolts) from the correct side and start by hand
Tighten screws evenly until secure (avoid over-tightening to prevent stripping or denting)
Repeat for all doors and drawers, keeping alignment consistent
Test operation (open/close doors and drawers) and check for looseness
If adjustment is needed: loosen slightly, reposition, and re-tighten
